About

Committed to Excellence

Currently I am a grade 6-12 Mathematics curriculum supervisor. I led work in detracking and math pathways that focus on opening opportunities for all with our student center curriculum. I have previously worked as a high school math teacher and a diversity coach. I co-founded a non-profit focused on community based programming. I have created a grant funded project-based Algebra 1 enrichment class and a mathematics dance class.

I have published a 3-part series in NCSM Inspire! on my journey through the belief gap, Detracking Mathematics: tapping out of segregation, and Math Opportunity for All: pathways to the future.

I have presented on Youth development at Bridgeport YMCA, Belief Gap at Free Center of Middletown, and scheduled to present on Trauma in the classroom at AAC&U "Can You Handle The Truth" Conference and Leveraging Heterogeneous Grouping at ATOMIC conference. All students should have an education designed with pathways aligned to their interests.

I have a passion for reaching my students where they are at.  I grew up in an environment with very little educational resources. My overall mission is to remain in a space that opens doors for children who may not know the system has a place for them and in order to provide opportunity for all.
